In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi urged the United Nations and relevant international bodies to take a constructive role in protecting Islamic heritage and safeguarding the rights of all religious and cultural minorities in India. The statement emphasized that the Indian government must ensure the safety of all religious communities, including Muslims, and protect their places of worship in line with international human rights obligations. The Babri Mosque, a centuries-old place of worship, was demolished by extremist mobs on 6 December 1992. Pakistan highlighted that subsequent judicial decisions in India, which acquitted those responsible and allowed the construction of a temple on the mosque\u2019s site, reflect the Indian state\u2019s discriminatory approach towards its minority communities. Pakistan\u2019s Foreign Office called on the international community to address these concerns and take measures to prevent further marginalization of minorities in India. The statement said this reflected a broader pattern of pressure on religious minorities in India and deliberate attempts at eroding Muslim cultural and religious heritage under the influence of majoritarian Hindutva ideology.
