Former premier Imran Khan called on President Dr Arif Alvi to ‘act now’ and stop the abuse of power as well as the violation of laws and the Constitution.
\nIn a letter to the president on Sunday, the former premier stated that since the removal of the PTI government, the country has been \u201cconfronted with an ever-increasing scale of false allegations, harassment, arrests, and custodial torture\u201d.
\nHe alleged that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah \u201crepeatedly issued death threats\u201d to him and that he was informed of an assassination plot \u201chatched by PM Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah\u201d and a senior military official.
\n\u201cThe plot was operationalised earlier this week during our long march, but Allah saved me and the assassination attempt failed,\u201d he stated.
\nImran requested that as the head of the State of Pakistan and \u201calso as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces under Article 243 (2)\u201d of the Constitution, President Alvi take note of the \u201cfollowing serious wrongdoings that undermine Pakistan\u2019s national security\u201d.
\nHe further asked Alvi to lead an inquiry to identify the guilty \u201cand hold them accountable\u201d.
