{"id":2491,"date":"2022-11-05T08:19:27","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T08:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=2491"},"modified":"2022-11-05T08:19:27","modified_gmt":"2022-11-05T08:19:27","slug":"campaigning-kicks-off-for-malaysias-general-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diplomacypakistan.com\/?p=2491","title":{"rendered":"Campaigning kicks off for Malaysia\u2019s  general election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Campaigning has formally started for Malaysia\u2019s general elections, a highly competitive race that will see the world\u2019s longest-serving coalition seeking to regain its dominance four years after a shocking electoral loss.<br \/>\nAccording to international media reports, campaigns began on Saturday for the November 19 election, which will determine if the Barisan Nasional (BN), or National Front, coalition can make a strong comeback or whether political reformers can secure another surprise win that will see their leader, Anwar Ibrahim, achieve a long-held dream of becoming prime minister.<br \/>\nLed by the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), BN had ruled Malaysia since the country\u2019s independence from Britain in 1957.
