Pakistan has asked the UN Security Council to act decisively against Israeli aggression in Gaza and West Bank. Delivering a statement at the Security Council briefing on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram strongly condemned Israel\u2019s latest escalation, including its renewed bombardment of Gaza and its systematic blockade of humanitarian assistance. Referring to the expansion of Israel\u2019s large-scale military operations Munir Akram said that daily military raids, settler violence and illegal land annexations are part of a systematic effort to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people in the West Bank. Munir Akram said a credible political process must lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. The Israeli military is shelling the northern areas of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, reported Arab media, citing local sources. An Israeli army helicopter is also carrying out \u201cintense gunfire\u201d east of Gaza City, according to the Palestinian Information Centre. Israeli fighter jets bombed a home in the Tuffah neighborhood, located east of Gaza City in the northern part of the Palestinian enclave. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least five people and left several others wounded. Besides, Israeli military operations have been reported in various other areas across Gaza in past some hours. These include shelling in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, shelling near the Netzarim axis in central Gaza, and an airstrike in the southeastern section of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza. So far, no casualties have been reported in these attacks. Gaza Health Ministry condemns destruction of cancer hospital by Israeli forces. The ministry has condemned the bombing of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital as \u201ca heinous crime\u201d committed by Israel. The hospital, which was built by Turkiye and operated by local authorities as a cancer treatment facility, was blown up by the Israeli army earlier today after having been rebuilt with a Turkish donation of $34m in 2017. The ministry also said the hospital, located in the Netzarim Corridor close to Salah al-Din Street, was used as a command centre by Israeli forces during their previous military assault in central and northern Gaza.
