Awami Muslim League leader and former interior minister, Sheikh Rashid, has raised serious concerns about the worsening state of the country and its economy. Speaking to the media outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Rashid emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting that during his five-year tenure as a minister, he had shown leniency and now appeals to the establishment for a general amnesty. The former interior minister while highlighting the recent rearrest of PTI member Sanam Javed from a lawyer’s chamber, condemned the police for disrespecting several individuals. He added, “It would have been better if they had given us the two-year sentences we deserve, which we would have served.” Rashid also criticized the impending increase in electricity rates, warning that the country is on the brink of chaos, stating, “You want to create such turmoil that it becomes unmanageable. This is not the job of politicians. The poor are suffering immensely. The country is heading towards a state similar to Kenya. Conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are dire. People are cursing this government. For God’s sake, save your honour and the country.” He further commented on the current administration’s inability to stabilize the economy, predicting that Nawaz Sharif would introduce a new narrative, leaving the public humiliated. Questioning the release of Imran Khan, Rashid stated, “They keep saying he’s coming, but he isn’t. One grave and three bodies: Nawaz, Shehbaz; their fate will soon be decided.
