Polling began for by-elections on eight seats of the National Assembly (NA) in three provinces of the country on early Sunday with minor clashes between the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) in Peshawar.
\nAccording to media reports, the altercation occurred in the city\u2019s Shaheed Hasanain School, resulting in a PTI worker getting injured. Police personnel present at the spot, however, defused the situation immediately and detained both workers.
\nIn another incident, a scuffle broke out between the gunmen of the PTI mayor and the police outside the Municipal Inter College in the provincial capital.
\nA policeman was injured during the altercation. The police arrested the gunman and transferred him to Faqirabad Police Station.
\nAccording to the first information report (FIR) filed, the gunmen misbehaved with government officials. The FIR also includes provisions for the exhibition of arms.
\nAnother clash between ANP and PTI polling agents at Peshwar’s number one polling station has been reported. The police has reached the spot and asked workers to leave the premises.
\nThe by-elections that began at 8 am today are being held on two seats in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), four seats in Punjab and two seats in Sindh, which fell vacant after the resignation of the PTI members of the NA.
