The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted PTI chief Imran Khan protective bail in a case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against him.
\nThe bail was approved against surety bonds worth Rs5,000 till October 18 after Imran appeared before the court.
\nIHC Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah had summoned Imran earlier today, midway through the hearing of his plea for protective bail.
\nImran had sought the bail after the FIA\u2019s Com\u00admerical Bank Circle in Islam\u00adabad registered a first information report (FIR) against him and other PTI leaders on October 6.
\nAt the outset of the hearing, the PTI chairman\u2019s lawyer informed the court that there is a threat of Imran Khan\u2019s arrest.
\nAt this, the IHC CJ asked the lawyer where his client was and why had he not appeared before the court.
\n\u201cIf the court orders Imran Khan will appear before it immediately,\u201d the lawyer told the judge,
\nUpon hearing this, the IHC CJ told the lawyer to ask his client to appear at 3pm today.
\nHowever, the lawyer said that it would be very late and his client can come to court in 30 minutes.
\nThe court also barred the police from arresting the PTI chief till he appears in court and stopped the police from \u201charassing\u201d him.
