Sri Lanka Cricket on Saturday named former Pakistan speedster Aaqib Javed as the national team\u2019s fast bowling coach. The former right-armer will work with Sri Lankan team until the completion of the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and USA in June 2024. Aaqib\u2019s role with Sri Lanka Cricket will begin with immediate effect. \u201cWe warmly welcome Aaqib and believe that his immense international experience, both in playing and coaching, will help our bowlers come into good shape ahead of the upcoming major international competitions, such as the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup,\u201d said Ashley De Silva, CEO, Sri Lanka Cricket. Javed featured in 163 ODIs and 22 Test matches for Pakistan, bagging 236 international wickets. He was also a member of Pakistan\u2019s 1992 World Cup-winning team and is currently the head coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Lahore Qalandars. In the past, Javed has also worked as the bowling coach of the Pakistan national team, while also being associated with the UAE national team as coach.
