Iran’s top military commander says Palestinians decided to stand up against Israel and uphold their rights instead of giving in to their gradual death at the hands of the occupying regime. Speaking on Monday, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said that Israel\u2019s bombing campaign on the blockaded Gaza Strip \u201chas no military value\u201d compared to the October 7 operation conducted by Palestinian resistance fighters against the occupying entity. The Zionists \u201care the losers of the war even if they continue the bombing for one year,” he stated, adding that it is because “attacks on hospitals and ambulances, as well as the aerial bombardment of homeless people and women and children, are not a sign of victory.\u201d Baqeri also said Hamas’ Operation Al-Aqsa Storm was the result of \u201cthe accumulation of cruelty and oppression\u201d by the Zionists against Palestinians over many years. \u201cThrough self-reliance, the Palestinian resistance managed to break the Zionist regime\u2019s false images of invincibility by relying on its strength,\u201d he added. The top general said the resistance fighters have dug over 400 kilometers of tunnels in Gaza, where they boost their defense industries. Baqeri further reiterated Iran\u2019s fair proposal for the Palestine conflict, namely the holding of a referendum among all Palestinian people to decide their own fate. Israel waged the bloody war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement launched the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity. Since the start of the war, the Tel Aviv regime has been committing war crimes in Gaza, killing at least 8,069 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring over 22,000 others. It has also imposed a \u201ccomplete siege\u201d on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living in the coastal sliver. He also said attempts attributing Operation Al-Aqsa Storm to outside of Palestine are meant to cover up Israel\u2019s defeat. \u201cAn oppressed nation, with its own capability using weapons mainly produced by itself under the strictest controls, was able to carry out such a faultless and worthwhile operation which\u2026 shattered the Zionists\u2019 power and glory,\u201d Baqeri stressed.
