4 lifeless after Canada shootings, man in custody: police

4 folks have been shot lifeless in Penticton, British Colombia, on Monday and a suspect is in custody, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) mentioned in an announcement.

“Police have decided 4 persons are deceased at three areas inside a 5 km (3.1 mile) radius,” the assertion mentioned.

“A person matching the suspect’s description turned himself into the Penticton RCMP detachment. The person stays in custody whereas the investigation progresses. Preliminary indications are this was a focused incident,” the assertion mentioned.

The preliminary taking pictures incident was reported at 10:30AM native time (1730 GMT). As police have been en path to the scene, a second taking pictures was reported.

The suspect in each shootings turned himself in about an hour after the primary report, police mentioned.

A motive for the shootings was nonetheless unknown.

“Figuring out why this occurred is a part of our ongoing investigation,” mentioned RCMP regional commander Ted De Jager.
